Choose the right dosing pump in the process industry
We help the process industry to choose the right dosage
Choosing a dosing pump for the process industry is not easy. Requirements vary depending on the use and application. In addition, the pumps must withstand abrasive and corrosive fluids. Lyma Kemiteknik - one of the leading companies in flow technology for the most aggressive industrial environments - customises dosing pumps for each individual operation.
Dosage pumps are used in water treatment plants and chemical processing plants, among others. Unlike a centrifugal pump, a dosing pump must be able to dispense small and precise amounts of chemicals over time. At the same time, the pressure must be adapted to the back pressure in the container into which the liquid is to be dosed.
- A dosing pump can distribute 0.2 to 8200 litres per hour. Some models can handle back pressure up to 400 bar," explains Therése Heimby, sales engineer at Lyma Kemiteknik.
Which chemical should be dosed?
- When choosing a dosing pump, a number of parameters must be taken into account, with volume and pressure being the first to be considered. It is also important to choose a pump that is classified for the liquid in question, says Therése Heimby.
Sulphuric acid and hydrochloric acid are examples of corrosive acids, but chemicals such as chlorine can also cause corrosion problems. pH adjustment is a common application. One must also consider the temperature and viscosity of the fluid and the operating environment in which the pump will be located.
Customised dosing pumps with fast delivery
Dosing pumps are available as magnetic drive or motorised and dose by diaphragm or piston. The industry often requires customisation of the basic pump design in terms of materials and pump configuration. There are also accessories such as pulsation dampers, injection nipples and safety valves that can be added.
- At Lyma, we are problem solvers for each individual customer and their unique requirements. We help to find the right product, which helps the customer to streamline their own production processes," says Therése.
Once all the choices are made, Lyma quickly delivers complete dosing units, ranging from pump mounted on containers to complete, pre-assembled cabinets - ready to plug in.
Dosage in security classified environments
Lyma Kemiteknik currently supplies dosing pumps to businesses in the chemical industry, paper industry, steel / mining industry, energy and waste incineration. The operations are very different and have strict requirements for safety and operation.
- "If there are requirements for ATEX safety rules for potentially explosive environments, Lyma has pumps that ensure a safe working environment," says Therése.
