Centrifugal pumps

Centrifugal pumps
Centrifugal pumps belong to the pump group of rotordynamic pumps. The pump group is large and includes many different designs and models. The pumps are divided into horizontal and vertical centrifugal pumps as well as single-stage and multi-stage centrifugal pumps.Lyma offers robust centrifugal pumps that work excellently for corrosive or abrasive liquids in the process industry.

Applications of centrifugal pumps
Centrifugal pumps are versatile and used in a variety of industries such as mining, chemical, pharmaceutical and food. The pumps can transport liquids in a steady flow and from one level to another. Depending on the model, pumps can be used for pumping corrosive liquids such as
- hydrochloric acid
- iron chloride
- lime milk
- sulphuric acid.
Function and design
Centrifugal pumps use centrifugal force to transport liquid. Inside the pump, there are impellers, paddle wheels, which rotate. The rotation of the impeller starts a pressure difference between the pump's inlet and outlet, which in turn sets the liquid in motion. This pressure allows the liquid to be transported efficiently, even when there are large differences in level.
Multistage pumps with multiple impellers
Centrifugal pumps can be equipped with several impellers and are called multistage pumps. The different wheels have the same capacity and are connected in several stages. For each wheel that the liquid passes through, the pressure increases. The discharge pressure in the pressure port of the first wheel is equal to the suction port of the second wheel. A multistage pump cannot be run dry for any length of time.
Vertical centrifugal pumps that can run dry
Lyma also offers vertical centrifugal pumps that can run dry as opposed to wet-stored pumps. Lyma's vertical pumps are supplied both in fixed lengths and with variable length suction pipes.
Horizontal centrifugal pumps capable of handling corrosive liquids
Lyma's horizontal centrifugal pumps, both direct coupled and free shaft end, are designed to handle corrosive substances such as acids and solvents. These pumps are ideal for industrial environments where reliable and corrosion-resistant pumping is essential.
